Anxiety Disorders Center’s Intensive Outpatient Program

(program beginning September 2025)

About Our Program

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers specialized treatment for adults (18+) struggling with anxiety-related conditions such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), social anxiety, illness/health anxiety, panic disorder, agoraphobia, specific phobias, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This program focuses on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a proven and effective approach to managing anxiety, OCD, and PTSD.

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?

CBT helps you gradually face your fears rather than avoiding them. Through regular practice, you’ll discover that your worries don’t control you, and that you can handle anxiety without relying on avoidance or rituals. CBT is widely recommended as the first choice treatment for anxiety, OCD, and PTSD.

What is an Intensive Outpatient Program?

Our IOP is designed for individuals who need more support than weekly therapy but don’t require hospitalization or residential care. The program emphasizes group therapy, providing a supportive environment where you can connect with others and practice new skills together.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I enroll in the program?
The easiest way to start enrollment is to complete our online New Patient Form. Learn more about Becoming a Client at the Anxiety Disorders Center.

Will my insurance cover the cost?
We accept most commercial insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare. Please contact your insurance provider for details about your coverage.

How do I know if this program is right for me?
Your initial evaluation will help determine the best level of care for your needs. If our IOP isn’t the best fit, we’ll help you find the right program or treatment option.

I’m not sure I can attend every day or the full day of the program. Can I attend just some sessions?
We ask all IOP participants to commit to the full program schedule to get the most benefit. If attending the entire schedule isn’t feasible for you, we’d be happy to help you explore other treatment options that might suit your needs better.

What happens after I graduate from the IOP?
After completing the IOP, we offer a weekly step-down group designed to help graduates maintain the progress achieved during the program. Additionally, you may resume care with your outpatient psychiatrist. If you require a referral to a psychiatrist, we would be happy to assist you in finding one.

Do I need to discontinue seeing my current psychiatrist or therapist while participating in the IOP?
Our program psychiatrist can manage your medications while you are in the IOP. If you decide to continue seeing your outpatient therapist during the program, please schedule those visits on different days from your IOP sessions. We encourage you to check with your insurance if they will cover payment for outpatient therapy while you are participating in an IOP.
