The Department of Psychiatric Vocational Services offers the following services to individuals receiving treatment at The Institute of Living.
We have volunteer opportunities available year round in the Department of Psychiatric Vocational Services in the following areas:
- IOL Greenhouse
- On the Horizon clothing store
- IOL Shop (Gifts/Food)
- Peer Support Advocate

Psychiatric Vocational Services
The emphasis of Horticulture Services is on use of The Institute of Living’s greenhouse, flower shop and grounds as a vocational training environment.
Emphasis is on use of The Institute of Living’s cafeteria as a vocational training environment.
The Gift Shop is a retail convenience store on the IOL campus, which specializes in providing sundries and gifts to staff, clients and visitors.
The Department of Psychiatric Vocational Services has recognized recovery-based interventions as a vital part of the treatment for all individuals.
Occupational Therapy is an instrumental part of a client’s recovery at The Institute of Living.
Therapeutic Recreation Services are provided throughout the continuum of care at The Institute of Living.
The Peer Support Group meets every Wednesday at 12:30PM at the IOL. This group is intended to provide support, encouragement, and positive momentum for people in recovery from mental health and substance use.
