Shashwath Meda is a Senior Research Scientist at the Olin Neuropsychiatry Research Center, Institute of Living, Hartford HealthCare. For nearly two decades, he has conducted multidisciplinary neuroimaging research focused on understanding the biological mechanisms underlying psychiatric and neurological disorders through advanced brain imaging, computational neuroscience, and multimodal data integration.
Mr. Meda has authored more than 65 peer-reviewed scientific publications, with research appearing in leading journals including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), Biological Psychiatry, NeuroImage, Schizophrenia Bulletin, Translational Psychiatry and the Journal of Psychopharmacology. His research combines structural and functional MRI, independent component analysis (ICA), machine learning, and multimodal data fusion to identify biomarkers of brain dysfunction and improve the biological characterization of complex psychiatric illnesses. His work spans psychotic disorders, cognitive aging, substance use, traumatic brain injury, and translational neuroimaging, with an emphasis on developing objective brain-based markers that can inform diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment.
His long-term research goal is to help develop clinically meaningful neuroimaging biomarkers that advance precision medicine approaches for psychiatric disorders by integrating neuroimaging, cognitive neuroscience, genetics, and computational analytics.
While not working, he enjoys travelling with family, playing tennis and watching action and crime thrillers.
