The TOPS (Teaching Our Positive Side) Extended Day Treatment Program offers therapeutic extended day treatment services to children/adolescents (age 11 - 14 years) and their parents/guardians in the North Central Region of Connecticut who utilize Department of Children and Families services and/or System of Care.
Our program provides a positive, structured, and challenging therapeutic environment in order to nurture and support individual and group/social competencies. We can help with chronic behavioral and emotional problems, ADHD-hyperactivity and associated emotional problems, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety-related disorders, family conflicts, and parenting issues.

Eligibility
The TOPS Program provides services to children/adolescents ages 11-14 that are experiencing social, emotional, or environmental challenges that are negatively impacting their current level of functioning. Groups focus on social skills, hands on activities, and community integration. The costs of the program are jointly borne by Hartford Hospital and by the Department of Children and Families, which provides an extended day program grant. Preference will be given to those involved with or committed to the Department of Children and Families.

Schedule
The program operates three hours a day from 2 PM - 5 PM – Monday through Friday – except for major holidays. Participants can attend up to five days a week and may be enrolled in the program for up to six months. Our summer and school vacation hours are 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
Medical Services
The program has a child psychiatrist to prescribe medication if needed. Laboratory resources are also available.
Transportation
We provide transportation to and from the program within the city of Hartford.
