Dr. Ghannad is a second-year clinical psychology postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Living. She completed her degree in clinical psychology from Nova Southeastern University and completed her predoctoral internship at the Yale University's School of Medicine in their Adult Inpatient track. Dr. Ghannad's clinical and research interests include increasing understanding into the unique experiences of minoritized individuals diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness. She has experience conducting both qualitative and quantitative research, and most recently developed a psychotherapy group that addresses experiences of perceived discrimination, internalized stigma, and internalized racism amongst individuals with psychotic disorders. Dr. Ghannad is committed to raising awareness of how internalized stigma around mental illness, as well as the unique challenges faced by individuals from marginalized communities, can impact treatment outcomes and recovery. She hopes to continue developing interventions that not only address these intersecting challenges, but also help individuals feel more empowered, understood, and connected.
