The Perinatal Day Program has a multidisciplinary team including a perinatal therapist, a reproductive psychiatrist, and a recovery support specialist.
Treatment for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders is centered on a group therapy model, where pregnant and postpartum individuals engage with their team and other individuals facing similar challenges. This helps create a community of support, fosters a sense of belonging, and aims to reduce feelings of isolation by connecting individuals who have these shared experiences. Individuals learn from each other, gain diverse perspectives, and learn coping strategies. It provides a safe space for encouragement, accountability, and to express emotions and work through difficulties. Participants often find treatment as an opportunity for self-discovery and personal growth.
At the Perinatal Day Program, we assist individuals in addressing current challenges and symptoms, to better care for themselves and their babies. Our clients engage in different therapy modalities to learn about the perinatal period and its impact, how to care for their babies, improve communication in their relationships, access coping skills during periods of stress, and ultimately manage their symptoms in order to return to their lives with improved insight and ability to address challenges. We also provide medication management during the program to optimize treatment.
