Group home for clients who need short term help coping with an exacerbation of their illness or who need long term support and assistance.
Located in the Center Building on the grounds of The Institute of Living, Eli’s Retreat is a 13 bed group home for clients who need short term help coping with an exacerbation of their illness or who need long term support and assistance.
Staff provide social and life skills training, supportive counseling, and case management, and work closely with clinicians in the partial hospital programs and with hospital and community therapists. All clients are encouraged to make use of community resources and leisure opportunities. The program has its own van and routinely takes clients out for social and recreational activities, shopping, and errands. Located a little over one mile from downtown Hartford, Eli’s Retreat, and other residences, offer easy bus access into the community.
Clients’ needs and strengths determine the level of support and supervision that they have available to them and the amount of autonomy that they are granted. Some clients leave grounds only with staff, or by themselves for local errands only. Others may use the bus system, or even their own vehicles, to attend school, work or leisure activities.
Staff are on-site 24 hours per day. Medications are held in the office; clients self-administer medications under staff supervision.
